BOTOX IN TIGARD
HOW IS BOTOX USED IN DENTISTRY?
Botox is a facial injectable that contributes to a more youthful and aesthetic appearance. In Cosmetic Dentistry, Botox is used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and facial lines, and decrease the appearance of a gummy smile.
However, Botox has uses in dentistry that are more than just cosmetic.
Botox has been shown to offer patients relief from clenching, bruxism, and muscular pain from Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ), and improve gummy smiles. It is also very effective at reducing pain from chronic headaches and migraines.
If you’re interested in getting Botox, schedule a free consultation with us at The Smile Lounge to find out if it’s right for you.
Botox is a brand-name product for Botulinum Toxin. There are other products that contain Botulinum toxin that may be more appropriate for your case. Dr. Henderson will discuss which neurotoxin may be best for you during the consultation.

How It Works: The Botox Process
CONSULTATION
During your consultation, Dr. Henderson will go over your dental history with you and ask about your goals for treatment. This will help determine whether Botox is right for you.
EXAM
A thorough exam will be performed so Dr. Henderson will know which muscles would benefit from Botox injections and what dose. If you suffer from certain muscular disorders or suffer from bruxism that you are hoping Botox will address, we will examine the effect this has had on your teeth to determine if other treatments may be more appropriate.
TREATMENT PLAN
After the exam, Dr. Henderson will determine which areas will benefit the most from Botox injections, present you with a treatment plan, recommend any alternative treatments, and review the costs.
INJECTION
The injection can take place the same day as your consultation, but you WILL NOT BE PRESSURED to get any treatment if you are not ready. Injections only take a few minutes to perform and are much less painless than most people think. You will be given post-injection instructions, and will start to see your results in 3-8 days!
