WHAT IS CLEARCORRECT?

ClearCorrect is a brand of clear aligners, similar to Invisalign. Clear aligners are an alternative to traditional braces and are designed to help guide teeth into their proper position.

If you want straighter, healthier teeth, you might be a great candidate for ClearCorrect. Aligners place gentle pressure on the teeth to create movement, but without metal wires or brackets. This results in a more attractive smile without the hassle of unsightly brackets and wire.

Straightening teeth with clear aligners is one of the most common types of cosmetic dentistry. It not only improves the appearance of your smile, but the health of your teeth and gums as well.

How it works: The ClearCorrect treatment process

Dr. Henderson is the Tigard Dentist who owns and operates The Smile Lounge.

CONSULTATION

At your consultation, your dentist will determine if you are eligible for clear aligner therapy. First, your dentist will examine your gum health and teeth. You need to have healthy gums and any cavities filled before starting treatment.

Your dentist will also discuss your smile goals and develop a treatment plan made just for you.

3D SCAN AND PHOTOS

Your dentist will then take a series of pictures of your face and mouth. Your dentist will also scan your teeth to create a 3D digital impression. Then the images and digital impression are sent to the ClearCorrect laboratory to start the treatment planning process.

Once the treatment plan is finalized and approved, ClearCorrect will begin to make your clear aligners.

DELIVERY AND FITTING

Once your aligners have arrived at your dentist’s office, you will be scheduled for fitting and delivery. Your dentist will check the first set of aligners to ensure proper fit and alignment.

If needed, they will add any engagers and complete any IPR. Your dentist will give you the first 6 sets of aligners and instructions for wearing your ClearCorrect clear aligners.

WEARING YOUR CLEAR ALIGNERS

You’ll wear each set per the dentist’s instructions, usually for at least 22 hours each day, and switch them out every 2 weeks. Every 6 weeks, you’ll stop by your dentist’s office to pick up your next few sets of aligners and so the doctor can check your teeth to make sure they are moving as expected.

ClearCorrect makes their clear aligners from a specially created polyurethane resin plastic. The material that ClearCorrect uses is approved by the FDA, and is BPA-free. The aligner material is resistant to cracks and stains, so they remain clear even after use, making it difficult to notice the aligners in someone’s mouth.

Will it work for me?

Most people are a good candidate for ClearCorrect. It is an ideal solution for treating crowded, rotated, and gapped teeth.

However, children under the age of 13, people with severe cases like a deep overbite or underbite, and people who are unable to commit to wearing aligners 22 hours per day may be better served with traditional braces instead.

Are clear aligners painful?

Typically, patients don’t experience pain from ClearCorrect treatment. It may be uncomfortable for a few days when you change to a new set of aligners. This is because the aligners apply gentle pressure to move your teeth.

How long is the treatment?

People who previously had braces typically take about six months to realign their teeth. For people who never had braces, it depends on how complex their case is, but it usually ranges from 8-14 months.

What is IPR?

IPR (interproximal reduction) is a procedure to make teeth more slim by reducing the proximal surfaces of the teeth. A very small amount of space (usually tenths of a millimeter) between the teeth is created to allow the teeth to move during treatment. IPR is often recommended when treating patients who have crowded teeth.

IPR is completed by using abrasive diamond strips. You do not need to be numb during the procedure. You will feel some vibration on your teeth. Some people may experience sensitivity/discomfort, bleeding gums, and pressure on the gums.

How ClearCorrect engagers work

Engagers are similar to Invisalign’s attachments. They’re composite resin buttons that are attached to certain teeth to help the aligners exert the right amount of pressure to shift these teeth in the right direction.

The engagers are tooth-colored and blend in with the teeth but will be a raised surface (like a bump) on the teeth that the aligners hook onto. Engagers don’t need to be used on all of the teeth. The engagers can come in different shapes and sizes as they are designed for each tooth to help the aligner encourage just the right amount of force.

Different sizes and shapes encourage different movements. Engagers make more severe malocclusions treatable by helping the aligners more securely grab onto teeth and rotate them into the proper position. They can also be combined with elastics to treat bite problems. When your Clear Correct treatment is complete, the engagers will be removed from your teeth.

How much does ClearCorrect in Tigard cost?

Dental insurance may cover the cost of ClearCorrect, however, it typically only covers 50%. However, without insurance, the cost will typically range from $3500 to $5300 depending on the complexity of your case.
